Review: BMW M135i

April 2, 2015

As the fastest and most powerful BMW 1 Series on offer, it’s little wonder that driving enthusiasts are keen to get their hands on the M135i. In today’s BMW M135i review, we’re taking a look at what the German brand has to offer with their naughty hot hatch. And if you want in on the action, check out our flexible BMW finance options to see how we can help.

Design

BMW’s legendary performance division (M Sport) has produced some cracking cars over the years – and with the BMW 1 Series M Sport is no exception. Don’t be fooled by its size, the M135i brings BMW firmly into hot hatch territory – and thanks to its spacious interior, this slick ride combines style with practicality. Need space for the family? No problem, the 5 door version of the M135i is only £500 more than the 3 door hatch. In the cabin, the BMW M135i is very similar to the entry-level 1 series and while room in the rear isn’t ample, it’s ideal for the kids on family days out. Space in the front is a different story. There is more than enough leg room and the adjustable steering column and driver’s seat ensure maximum comfort.

Performance & Handling

The M135i performs at an impressive pace for a hatchback, with the rumble of the 315 bhp engine amplified through the car’s speaker system.

BMW M135i Specs

    • Engine: Six cylinder, 2,979 cc
    • Power: 315 bhp
    • 0-60 mph: 4.9 sec
    • Top speed: 155 mph
    • CO2/Economy: 175 g/km
  • Fuel consumption: 37.7mpg

Features

As expected, the M135i comes with plenty of luxury touches – with climate control, Bluetooth and leather seats included as standard. But to benefit from its many options, such as rear parking sensors, a reverse parking camera and Sat Nav – you’ll have to pay more. When it comes to safety and security, the M135i has you covered – with side and driver airbags as standard, as well as remote and central locking.
