Regular readers of our blog will know we have a soft spot for the Honda Jazz. It managed to sneak into two of our top 5 of 2014 lists, so it’s about time we give this little hatchback a good look-over to see what makes it so appealing. The Jazz is in its third generation now, and dates back to 2001 when it first conquered Japan (known there as the Honda Fit). If you’ve already picked the Jazz and just need a car loan, skip the review and apply now for no-fuss car finance.
The Jazz has become an incredibly popular car in most major cities around the world since then, and its popularity shows no signs of slowing. The 2015 Honda Jazz will see some refreshing updates over its predecessor, but its greatest assets (spaciousness and reliability) are very much untouched. Let’s take a closer look at Honda’s spectacular city car in our 2015 Honda Jazz review!
Design
You’ll have to look very closely, but the 2015 Honda Jazz actually has a slightly longer wheelbase than its predecessor. This results in 65mm extra legroom for its driver and passengers. If you take into account that the 2014 Honda Jazz was already one of the most spacious cars in the segment, you can really appreciate how much room you get. To top it all off, the Jazz gets a massive and very practical boot, which features a parcel shelf that can be stored in four different ways to create room for virtually any cargo. If it’s room you want, the 2015 Honda Jazz delivers.
Performance & Handling
As far as engines go, the 2015 Honda Jazz brings some minor updates. You still have a choice of two very efficient and incredibly reliable petrol engines; a 1.2-litre providing 89bhp and a 1.3-litre with 99bhp. Its hybrid engine did get a minor upgrade, however, and now offers 97bhp – returning an impressive 62.8mpg and emitting a satisfyingly low 104g/km. No matter which engine you opt for, the Jazz handles the way any city car should handle. Steering is smooth and makes parking this beauty simple and stress-free. The handling is fine-tuned for traffic-heavy urban environments – but even at high speeds, the 2015 Honda Jazz is plucky and fun to drive.
Features
The Jazz’s crowning feature is its fantastically practical space economy – but this city cars also delivers in the tech department. The Honda Jazz comes with a wealth of kit even at entry-level, including electric heated mirrors, traction control and ABS. The car also boasts a five star rating in the Euro NCAP test, and comes with 6 airbags in every model as well as anti-whiplash headrests. On top of that, the Honda Jazz is an incredibly reliable car that will outlast most of its competitors and will be cheap to insure as a result.
If you’re considering buying this new model, you’ll need to wait until the summer when this updated city car makes its way to the UK. If you don’t want to wait that long, the 2014 Honda Jazz is still readily available and is a superb car as well.
